WTF Beyonce as Etta James!!! - September 4, 2008

Of all the great black actresses/singers out there this is who they pick to play Etta James.  How sad!  This will be one bad movie now.  One Beyonce is not a good actress and two her voice is completely wrong.   Why not Jennifer Hudson far better actress and singer and she totally has the look and presence to pull it off.  I know the movie is about Chess Records, but Etta James was big part of that, really people, bad, bad choice!

Alison Moyet comes to Seattle! - August 28, 2008

Alison Moyet, one of my favs from the 80s but has released some amazing CDs over the last several years such as Hometown, Voice and her latest The Turn (released in the US in July 08 and by the way is a fucking awesome album) is doing her first US tour in who knows.  Seattle made the list.  No pre-tickets available yet, but her site has her listed for Oct 29th at The Moore.  God I hope this doesn't get canceled.  I can't wait.

Little things that make a geek happy - August 25, 2008

So I am BIG fan of the new Doctor Who, especially since David Tennant has been the Doctor.  If I could affor the season boxed sets I would have them, but damn they are not cheap.  Anyway, so they made an animated movie which played on TV over there and was never released here.  That is until now!  Yes on Nov 18th I will get my fix.  Doctor Who: The Infinite Quest, I am soo excited.

I saw two movies this weekend, Hamlet 2 and Clone Wars, lets start with Clone Wars, I found it entertaining, not as bad as the critics said, my complaint Jabba's Uncle.  Now why would a hut speak in a bad southern, lispy accent?  It was such an insult to me anyway, to make him this feminine over made up with feather and such villian.  We'll see how much he is in the actual episodes when it starts airing.  Hamlet 2, funny, quirky, just go to have a good time and good laugh.

I also bought a new CD over the weekend by Lucy Woodward (
http://www.lucywoodward.com/ ) called Hot & Bothered.  She is kind of hard to put in a catagory, I mean she is sort of this jazz/blues/pop artist with a bit of a 50s/60s retro sound.   But this album is HOT! (pun intended) I say check it out.
