He Was
He  was just a boy, an odd little boy
He was looking for, he was wanting
Love
It was just a bruise, another black and blue
He was beaten for, he was slapped for
Living
It was just a place, another stranger's face
He was somewhere, he was left there
Alone
He was trying to understand what is little mind couldn't comprehend
So in his hands he held his heart, wounded and crying,
Looking for answers in the dark

He was just a kid, an unwanted kid
He was looking for, he was wanting
Belonging
It was just a name, a way to be blamed
He was belittled for, he was chided for
Being
It was just a street, a new place to retreat
He was stealing for, he was huddled for
Survival
He was starting to understand what his mind needed to comprehend
So in his hands he held his heart, scarred and scared,
Finding his answers in the dark

He was just a teen, a boy of seventeen
He was looking for, he was wanting
Solitude
It was just a pain, an unbearable pain
He was hurting for, he was needing
Silence
It was just a life, a fucked up life
He was weeping for, he was searching for
Peace
He now understands all that his mind couldn't comprehend
So in his hands he held his heart, bleeding and dying,
He found his answers in the dark
